Louie Skull Custom Handmade Bottle Openers

Sometimes you need to open a bottle. Sure, many are twist-off nowadays, but where's the fun in that? Here's a nice conversation piece. Beautiful maple and walnut discs with Louie Skull burned into one-side and stainless hardware on the other. Don't just open your bottles, take a little pride in what you're doing and open in style.

These are hand-made out in my shop. First, I select a nice piece of hardwood, usually maple or walnut. Then I measure and precisely drill out the holes to accommodate the stainless steel opener. Next, the wood is sawn to rough shape on the band saw, before being installed on the lathe and turned to perfect round. I turn off the edges and then go to work sanding from 80 to 600. After my fingerprints are nicely melted away, I burn my Louie Skull logos into the outside, carefully aligning them with the metal opener positioning on the opposite side so there is always a relative position. Finally, the wood is reinstalled on the lathe and polished using an abrasive compound and finished with a food-safe wax finish. They look great, are each unique, and should last a lifetime.
